Leaving Tomorrow!
Excited, anxious, and yes...still packing...
18.03.2011 - 19.03.2011
Hi Everyone!
We are getting SO excited about our trip! Of course we are quite anxious to see exactly where we will be staying and who we will be staying with, Lindsay is excited and anxious to meet her new students, and Aaron is excited and anxious to start his internship. So, the Speth house is a little more than crazy this morning as we continue to prepare for this awesome opportunity. We hope to be able to write in this blog everyday, but we have no idea what the internet situation will be like where we are staying. So we at least wanted to let everyone know what our initial itinerary will be, just in case we are unable to get internet access for a few days.
1.) We will leave from Indianapolis tomorrow evening at 5:15pm and arrive in Atlanta, GA at 6:51pm
2.) Leave Atlanta at 7:50pm and arrive in Johannesburg, South Africa at 5:05pm (there is a six hour time difference, which means that we will be landing at 11:05am Indiana time...which makes this a lovely 15hr 15min plane ride...yikes)
3.) Leave Johannesburg at 7:20pm and arrive in Cape Town, South Africa at 9:30pm
We will be traveling for a total of 22 hours and 15 minutes and 9,651 miles. I am exhausted just thinking about it ![]()
Once we arrive in Cape Town, we will be staying in a hostel and attempting to quickly change our sleeping patterns to prepare for the six day safari that we will be leaving for early the following morning. Our itinerary for that is:
1.) The Whale Route, Hermanus, Birkenhead Brewery & Cape Agulhas
2.) The Little Karoo, Route 62, Mineral Hot Springs and Oudtshoorn
3.) Cango Caves, Knysna Heads, Bloukrans Bungi Jump & Tsitsikamma (we will NOT be participating in the bungi jump...no way)
4.) Tsitsikamma Zip-line, Jeffreys Bay and the Sundays River Valley
5.) Addo Elephant Park Game Drive and Port Elizabeth
6.) The Crags Elephant Sanctuary, Plettenberg Bay and Wilderness
If this doesn't make any sense, because I thought it was all gibberish at first
check out this link to read more about what we will be doing each day: http://www.travellersworldwide.com/08a-south-africa/xtras/08-sa-add-on-tours.htm#5-day-tour
Once you get to the website, click on the seven day safari to read about the specifics of each day.
We are so excited to share our trip with you! Check back often for updates and pictures!
See you in person in two months!
Peace, we're outta here!
